Calling the Name of the Lord

The author of Psalm 23, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing,” is David. He was a leader who strengthened his nation and a king who lacked nothing. Although he faced many hardships, as a king, there was likely nothing he couldn’t experience. When God evaluates many kings, He often compares them to David (2 Chronicles 28:1). This may be because, despite being a king, David sought God, depended on Him, repented when he sinned, and glorified God through his life, earning him the reputation of a “good” king.

David is the author of most of the Psalms, and in every verse, he calls upon the name of the Lord. Calling upon the name of the Lord is a privilege reserved for God’s saved children and saints (Genesis 4:26, Romans 10:13). It reflects the image of lost sheep who fervently seek and follow their Shepherd, living in peace under His care. Are you calling upon the name of the Lord?
