“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). God is love. Even those who don’t know Him well can sense this truth. However, many do not understand why we face ‘perishing.’
Humans are born with a sinful nature, which can be described as ‘self-centeredness.’ This extreme self-focus drives us to prioritize our own comfort and success, sometimes at the expense of others. In fact, even faith can be practiced in a self-centered way. This way of living doesn’t just affect an individual; it spreads to families and groups, ultimately leading to destruction and chaos—a path to ‘perishing.’
But there is a Savior who came to rescue us from that destruction: Jesus Christ. Through His way of love, He redirected humanity from a path of ruin to a path of salvation. Unlike self-centeredness, His way focuses on God and others. It’s about sacrificing oneself, being like a grain of wheat that dies to bring life to others. Following this path—living selflessly and putting others first—is true salvation.
